Due to the spread of a new coronavirus variant in southern Africa, the German government is drastically restricting entry from eight countries in the region: South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mozambique, Eswatini, Malawi and Lesotho. Only German citizens can enter from these countries. Even those who are vaccinated must complete a two-week quarantine on arrival and regardless of their test results."
Travel Documents Requirements
All passengers are required to submit their passenger locator form (PLF) via the online EU-dPLF platform which can be accessed at https://app.euplf.eu/#/.
Holders of EUDCC can enter Malta without being subject to further restrictions (testing or quarantine). Children aged between 5 – 11 can travel if they accompany their fully vaccinated parents or legal guardians, provided they present a negative nasopharyngeal RT-PCR test (taken no earlier than 72 hours before arrival in Malta). They can then present the submitted PLF with the QR code at check in and on arrival in Malta in digital format or as a print-out.
To enter Malta from a DARK RED listed country, the following are required: Authorisation obtained from the Maltese Public Health Authorities for every person travelling to Malta. See below for procedure to obtain authorisation. A negative result for a nasopharyngeal RT-PCR COVID-19 test taken no longer than 72 hr prior to arrival in Malta.
