Do I need a transit visa?
A transit visa is a temporary short period visa for those who pass through a country without staying there or even not leaving the connecting airport. This type of visa is required by some countries only so please check the latest advice on this when booking a connecting international flight.
Transit travelers, who do not plan to stay in the country or even leave the airport, can always go to a designated “transit” area at the airport. Doing so, you won’t have to go through customs.
If you plan to leave the transit area (and the airport) between flights, you will need a visa. Remember you will need to go through customs and immigration on the way out, and of course, you’ll have to follow through security formality again on your way back into the airport. However, some tickets may not permit you to leave the airport.
Please check beforehand with your airline for further advice.
