Yangon (formerly Rangoon) is the largest city in Myanmar, also the former capital of Myanmar but it still retains much of its colonial character. The city is a melting pot of cultures and religions, with golden spires of historic pagodas coexisting with modern Hindu and Chinese temples, cathedrals, and mosques. Bagan - the 26-square-mile area, is home to over 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas, and monasteries and now is one of the most famous places in Myanmar.
