Cheap flights to Romania

You do not need to apply for a Romania short-stay visa (up to 90 days) if you fall under one of the following categories:

• You have a valid short-stay visa, long-stay visa, or residence permit issued by a Schengen member state.*
• You have a valid short-stay visa, long-stay visa, or residence permit issued by Bulgaria, Cyprus or Croatia.*
• You have a valid long-term resident’s EC residence permit issued by an EU member country.
• You have a valid permanent residence permits issued by the UK or Ireland which is valid for at least five years.
• You are a non-EU family member of a Romanian, EU, EEA, or Swiss citizen. This only includes the spouse, children under 21, and parents who are dependent on the EU, EEA, or Swiss citizen.

*You are only allowed to stay in Romania for the remainder of the validity of your current Schengen/Bulgaria/Cyprus/Croatia visa. For example, if your visa was issued for 20 days, and you spend 10 of them elsewhere, you may only spend the remaining 10 in Romania.

The Romania Short Stay Visa (C Type) allows the holder to stay in the country for a maximum of 90 days within a six-month period. The Romania Short Stay Visa is issued for the following reasons:

• Tourism
• Private visit
• Business
• Partaking in sports activities
• Partaking in cultural, scientific or academic events
• Official government mission
• Transportation

The standard list of Romania visa requirements is as follows:

• A Romania visa application form, which you can download from the website of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The application form has to be completed in typed letter and signed.
  • For minors: The parent/s or legal guardian/s who have custody over the minor have to sign the application form.
• Two recent pictures which are in line with Romania visa photo requirements (see below).
  • A valid passport or travel document, which:
  • Is recognized by Romania
  • Is valid for at least another three months after your visa expires
  • Was issued in the previous ten years
  • Has at least two blank pages where the Romania consular staff can affix your visa.
• Travel medical insurance which is valid in the EU and covers at least €30,000 of medical emergencies.
• Proof of sufficient financial means to cover the duration of your stay in Romania. You must have at least €50 per day, but no less than €500 overall (or its equivalent in your country’s currency).
  • You may submit proof of financial means through official bank statements.
  • If you are travelling as part of an organized tour or group and have pre-paid accommodation and services in Romania, you can submit that as part of proof of financial means.
• Proof of accommodation in Romania, whether that’s reservation in a hotel, a letter of invitation from a family member/friend, or other means of accommodation.
• Your flight ticket. If you are driving there, submit your driving license, green card and your vehicle’s registration.
• Any additional documents which correspond to the purpose of your travel.
